Snack sharing

Kate and Grandma sharing a snack. Watch out! Tigger is about to share with you, too.

Oregon Christmas

Grandpa reading a book with sound effects! Grandpa and Grandma with the all the grandkids.
Beatrix sharing all the toys in the room with Doug.

Christmas morning.

Boys and 'their' toys. Kate and daddy building (taken later in the day, as Kate no longer has her PJs on).

Kate examining her new Legos close up and personal. Testing out the Lego bin as a helmet.

Which she might need for her new tricycle.

Growing taller.

Look, mom. Now I can get in the drawer without pulling over the chair. And see what I found! I'm so proud.

3 ways to cuteness

1) I'll just have a sweet smile. 2) I'll show you the inside of my nose and the underside of my tongue.

3) I'll pet Gabby and share my snack with her.

Carousel

At Thanksgiving, when we were in Salem, Kate went for a ride (or 2 or 3) on the carousel. The daredevil that she is, she loved it, and was a bit sad when we were all done.

Pumpkin pie

Kate and daddy making pumkin pie for Christmas.

Penguin Jammies

At there many pink penguins at Grandma's house over the holidays.

Pig Tails

Kate will wear pig tails for, oh, about a minute. She requests them, looks super cute in them. And then is done with them. Though you can't really tell, I have pig tails in this photo, too.

January Self-Portrait

She really didn't want to pose for this one.

Bath time antics

During bath time, Kate likes to lay on her back with her ears in the water. She'll then tell me that she's sleeping. "Quiet, Mommy. I'm sleeping."

It's really been THAT long?

Has it been nearly 2 months since I've posted? Yikes. I have been taking pictures, I promise. My excuse for the last 2 weeks: our laptop has been in for repairs. And for whatever reason, I cannot sign in to blogger from our desktop.

So today, I'm posting from school. Students are reviewing for exams, which I find exceedingly boring. And I'm pretty much caught up on the current work. When I'm done with this post, I will actually be working on lesson plans that I will use over a week from now. And I will feel so accomplished.

But a random experience I've had, that I'd like to share with you.

Sometime last summer, and environmental group caught me on a good day outside of Trader Joe's. They were doing some sort of membership drive, along the lines of "Please add your name, and some money to our cause. Or else we fear for the future of all trees, fish, and microbes." Okay. Sign me up - and here's my check for $25.

Well, apparently I didn't see the place where I could check a box stating that they shouldn't share my address with every environmental group in the United States. I've been getting so much junk, I mean, opportunities to save the planet, that I think my $25 has basically just gone to postage and paper. It's rather annoying, on a few levels.

But I've found one small bonus. Many of these groups send you free address labels with pretty pictures on them. And on Tuesday, I got 3 - that's right THREE - free sets of address labels. I think I'm set for when we send out baby announcements in May or June.

Speaking of that, all things pregnancy are going well. I'm about 24 weeks along. We know we are having a boy. If you ask Kate if she is having a baby brother or baby sister, most of the time she answers, "Baby sister." Until we correct her - and yet she doesn't seem to mind the baby brother answer, either.

Let's see . . . . Terry finished her cancer treatements a couple of weeks ago. Now there is the waiting game of 6-8 weeks before they do more tests to see if the treatments did the job.

I promise pictures (even if they are old) over the weekend.

Snow smiles.

From Sunday. You can see bits of snow in my hair. Really!

3 tired creatures

I was picking up Terry from a doctor's appointment, and came home to find 3 sleepy creatures on the couch.

Warm coat

Towers of Toilet Paper

Hmmm. Kate sure is quiet. Where are you?

Empty boxes...

...Make good toys.

Spice drawer

Recipe for a toddler-mess-making.

1) Mom's at church.
2) Dad thinks Kate is with Grandma
3) Grandma thinks Kate is with Dad.
4) Kate is VERY quiet in the kitchen. Creating a concoction of peper, curry, nutmeg, chili powder. IN the spice drawer.

Snow Day!

Today Doug and I had a snow day, due to the icy roads and 3 inches of snow we received. Kate and I got all bundled up, and headed out into the white stuff. We played the 'mittens on mittens off game.' I think if she had more dexterity with them on, they would have been on the whole time. Pretty much the only reason she wanted to go inside was because her hands were so cold.

For a while we were in the front of the house, and I was wiping snow off my car. Kate wanted to do the same thing with her car. She then proceded to the swing set, brushed off the swing, and went for a spin.

Finally, cleaning off and taking a turn at the slide. It was fun watching her dump herself into the snow at the bottom of the slide. The only disappointment of the day was that the snow was so dry, I couldn't make a snow ball, let alone a snow man!

First Snow

On Sunday Morning, we saw our first snow flakes of the winter. Kate, in her pajamas, enjoyed the little flakes a lot. Truly, it IS snowing in these pictures. Yes!! Snow!!

Can I catch one on my tongue?
