Bubbles

Once Kate agreed for the Pacifier Faerie to come and visit, the winged-one traded the pacifiers for a bubble toy. It's a pink piggy that counts bubble while it's eating them. I'm just so thrilled to not have those gross pacifiers around any more.

Grandma & Max

Sibling love

Ohhh. Aren't they cute!

Smiley Max

It's been soooo delightful seeing Max smile. Often it is after diaper changes, and we just hang out for a good chunk of time making faces at each other. This is a series of photos of me trying to capture the best smile.

Daddy and the Kids

On July 6th (this was a busy week) we all went to an Aquasox game. It was HOT - at least by this summer's standards.
Max and Doug with some quality smile time.

Lynnwood Splash Park

On July 5th, I joined up with Anne and her kids at a splash park in Lynnwood. Kate is sitting on the right wearing the pink/brown suit. She had a lot of fun.
Max - Eight weeks, enjoying the shade of the ever versatile golf umbrella.

Fun in Oak Harbor

On July 3rd, we met up with some childhood friends of Doug's. First order of business, a carnival, where Kate LOVED the giant slide. Sorry that you have to turn your head sideways for the videos. At the end of the 2nd one, you can just hear her saying "Can I do it again?" We heard that a lot.

Then there was splashing in warm and cold water at the beach. The funniest moment was when she had to go potty. No bathrooms nearby, so after much convincing that it was okay, she sat down on the sand and watched the pee come out of her swimsuit.

Finally, a very tired girl slept for about 15 minutes on the way home.

Swimming pool fun.

I wouldn't say it was exactly swimming pool weather. But it wasn't raining either.

The slide is much better when someone is pouring water. Thank you, Grandma!
And last season's goggles are fitting much better this year.
Running around for another go at it.
Max, hanging out in our new shade umbrella. It really is creating shade, you just have to look closely for it.
A quick glimpse of what the fun was all about!

Max - seven weeks

One of the great things about Max this week is that he's started to give us real smiles. Of course, they are not captured in these photos, but there are a few cute looks.

The ride home

Both kids were asleep and quiet by the time we hit Vancouver. Unfortunately, they were awake 40 minutes later. Kate stayed awake the rest of the trip. Luck for all of us, Max did fall back to sleep after a food pit stop.

Jim and Patty's

In the afternoon after "nap" time. (No sleep for Kate!), we went to Jim and Patty's. The original Coffee People, if you will. Coincidentally, Michelle (Jade's sister) and her family were there. Claire and Saul were checking out a very alert Max.
Kate very much enjoyed her cookie. If you look closely, you can see the mess of it on her face.
Jeff (Michelle's hubby) and the kids spend some quality time playing on the side walk. Amazingly, no one crashed and burned.

Jade's backyard

After the park, we played in the backyard. Here is handsome Reunan with his mama.Playing in the sand box that Aaron built.
Waiting patiently for lunch.
Post outdoor clean up.

Destination: Wieting Household

After spending the afternoon at Marla's, we headed over to Jade's. After adventures in having two kids and myself sleeping in the same room, we decided to go to the park in the morning. Kate and Saul were fast friends, running around and having a great time with each other.

Destination: Friedler Household

Last weekend the kids and I did a quick trip to Oregon. We drove down in the afternoon, and Kate slept for all of 20 minutes. This was on Canyon Road . . . not a bad picture for just blindly aiming the camera while I was at a stop light! We were very lucky that Henry was home. I hadn't seen him since Christmas! I'd like to think he's checking out his new cousin, but it looks more like he's shaking hands with Lucas.
I just missed the smile in EVERY picture I took. And here I cut off a head. Clearly my photography skills are not keeping up with the movements of children.
Ditto. It was really great to spend the afternoon with them!

Outside play

In an attempt to play with BOTH kids outside, I haul the bouncy seat outside for Max, and provide him with some classic golf umbrella shade. Then I can push Kate on the swing. Until Max starts crying . . .
