Our first rose of the season was a big, beautiful one. And thorn free, so Kate could easily carry it around the whole evening.

Suzi and Zachary's visit
Suzi and Zachary came to visit for a long weekend. It was so great to see both of them. Kate and Zachary really enjoyed playing together. On Saturday, it was warm enough to justify 1.5 hours in the swimming pool.
Sharing a chair . . .
An abundance of belly laughs.
Entranced by "Kung Fu Panda".
A boy cousin moment.
An auntie moment. Suzi was REALLY good at getting Max to settle and feel comfortable. He fell asleep in her arms several times.
In answer to the final question on the video, "I'm okay!".

Birthday dinner
Kate celebrated her birthday dinner at Red Robin. When she got her birthday sundae, she couldn't be convinced to use the spoon, rather choosing to eat it like an ice cream cone. Cracked me up!Okay, now the whipped cream is gone, how do I go about eating the ice cream?
And, of course, we left with a pink balloon. The lack-of-helium balloon is still making an appearance around the house as a 'puppy'.

Cake at daycare
For the past month, or so, Kate told me she wanted a strawberry cake. (Note: take picture BEFORE putting lid on for transport.) It's a white cake with yummy whipped-cream frosting. I brought it in to Kate's daycare as a surprise. Here are the kids, waiting patiently for their cake. The girl in the front right is Kate's best buddy, Hailey.
As we were singing happy birthday . . .
See the moving smoke?
Kate ate the strawberries and frosting - and let me eat the cake.
